The ACE Program had its first Parent Activity Night on Tuesday, September 27th. The topic was "Building Self-Esteem". As a group they read from the book “How Full Is Your Bucket”. Parents were then asked to write encouraging messages to themselves and to their children. These messages were placed in a bucket. Muffins with Mom for Pre-K - 6th grade was a success. Moms were able to come to school and have breakfast with their kids then go on a walk-through of the classrooms. A.B. Duncan is excited about creating parent/teacher relationships and wants all parents to feel welcomed and involved in their child's learning. Thank you to all the moms who came and participated.
The Floydada I.S.D. Board met on Monday, September 19th and recognized the following students and staff for their efforts to make education the best it can be. Each month the staff selects students that exemplify education at its best and those students are recognized at the monthly school board meeting. The elementary students recognized were Izaih Alvarado and Alianna Juarez, both 6th graders at A.B. Duncan . . .
“Yesterday we celebrated something I hope becomes a tradition for us. We received our ratings from TEA and Duncan Elementary has Met Standard on all four indices in Accountability. Not only did we meet the standard but we also had a Distinction in Top 25% Student Progress. What this distinction means is as compared to 40 other schools just like us, we were in the top 10. We are very pleased with this accomplishment . . .
“Theatricality Leaders/ International Thespian Officers covered the little Pre-K sweeties at Duncan with warm blankets they and the Theatricality Class handmade themselves. Doing something good, without being asked is a valuable attribute we want to instill in the kids of our program.
