Whirlwind Education 2020-2021 School Year

The 2019-2020 school year concluded in a way that no one could have predicted. While

numerous challenges were presented, we are proud of the way our educators, students,

families, and other school stakeholders worked together to ensure some sense of normalcy as

we sought to educate our students and hold end-of-year activities. Thank you for your patience

and support!

The 2020-2021 school year is set to begin on August 17th and we are preparing to educate our

students in multiple ways. The circumstances that led to an abrupt end to how we operate last

spring are still present today. With that said, we will strive to ensure that we offer outstanding

educational services to our students no matter what the circumstances may be.

In order to meet the educational, health, and safety needs of our school community, we will

offer both “on-campus learning” and “remote learning” options. More details will be provided

as we get closer to the start of the new school year; however, we would like to share a

summary of each option so that parents/guardians can make an informed decision for their

child(ren):

On-Campus Learning                                                                               Remote Learning

                                                                                                                                                            (i.e. athletics, band, etc.)

                                                                                                                                               No attendance at school activities

                                                                                                                                                            (home or away)

Parents/guardians should select an option they feel is best for their child. We sent out a

preliminary survey a few days ago; however, another survey will be distributed in early August

and parents must officially make a choice of on-campus or remote learning then. Remote

learning last spring was a reaction to a global pandemic. Remote learning during the 2020-2021

school year will be much more structured and will involve more rigorous requirements. Once

remote learning is selected, a student must remain in that method for the entirety of the 6-

weeks grading period. While these are unprecedented times for public education, together we

can make this year a safe and successful year for our students and school community.
