FCISD Covid Update 2

We would like to provide public notice of positive COVID-19 cases #3 and 4 in our district.  Two secondary staff members received medical confirmation of their positive test.  The secondary campus was notified and contact tracing was immediately initiated.  All health and safety measures (including social distancing and/or facial coverings) were in place and followed, so there is no reason to believe any students or staff were considered to be in “close contact” with the positive cases.  Close contact is defined as being exposed to infectious secretions (i.e. being coughed on) or being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes.  One staff member works in an area where there is limited contact with students.  The other staff member has been in quarantine since Saturday, October 3rd.  Both staff members will be quarantined for the required time period.  We will continue to thoroughly disinfect all areas of each campus and ensure all safety measures are followed to keep our school community safe.

  • Initial Notification of Positive COVID-19 Test Results
    • Saturday, October 3, 2020:  Initial Notification from the individual (#3) regarding exposure to a positive case.  The individual was advised to quarantine and to get tested.  This individual received positive confirmation of COVID-19 on Tuesday, October 6th.
    • October 5, 2020:  Initial notification from the individual (#4) regarding exposure to a positive case.  The individual was advised to quarantine and to get tested.  The individual received positive confirmation of COVID-19 on Tuesday, October 6th.
  • Immediate Actions Taken After Notification
    • The campus administration was notified about case #3 on Saturday, October 3rd and about the positive result on October 6th.  They were also notified about positive case #4 on October 6th.  Contact tracing was immediately initiated.
    • It was determined that all health and safety protocols were followed and no other individuals came into “close contact” with the positive case.
  • Information Dissemination on October 6, 2020
    • The superintendent consulted with the campus administration to confirm that neither individual had “close contact” with students or staff and that all health and safety protocols were followed.
    • The district nurse initiated the process of notifying the health department.
    • The superintendent notified the County Judge of the positive cases.

All areas of each district facility are disinfected each day.  In addition, classrooms are disinfected each time students transition from class to class.  We will continue to ask students age 10 and older to wear facial coverings.  While we have many health and safety measures in place, we are not exempt from the COVID-19 pandemic.  Together we can get through these trying times and keep our school community safe.
