On Saturday, October 24 our very own Floydada Collegiate High School “Spirit of the Winds” Marching Band presented their show, entitled “Native Americana,” and earned straight 2s from all of the judges. UIL defines a division 2 as “Excellent.” The band worked hard this year and made significant shifts in their discipline, culture, and spirit, all in the face of hindrances due to COVID-19, the absence of their band facilities due to delayed construction, and the majority of the band being underclassmen (8th graders and Freshmen). The band has performed at their football games and contests far better than they did last year, and it is obvious that significant growth is being made by all of the student Whirlwinds. The Directors are extremely proud of their work this marching season, and are excited to see what we are capable of next year.

We want to especially thank our parents and guardians. We understand the time, energy, and sacrifice our parents have to make to get our students at all their rehearsals, practices, sectionals, games, fundraisers, and contests, and we want to express our deep gratitude for your work. Without your unwavering support we would not be as successful a band program.

We also want to thank our school board, administrators, booster club, athletic department, and audiences for being so supportive, positive, and encouraging. Our growth is only ever as strong as the support of the community, and we appreciate your generosity and kindness tremendously.

Goooooooooo Whirlwinds!!!
