Bearing in mind the mission and beliefs stated above, Floydada ISD is committed to excellence in teaching through professional development, best practices, and data driven evaluations of student performance. Curriculum is basically a roadmap for learning, and as such focuses on knowledge and skills that are important to learn. Instruction is the means by which that learning will be achieved. To meet the needs of the 21st century learner and achieve student success, it is critical to adopt and maintain a 21st century curriculum that blends thinking and innovation skills; information, media, and technological literacy; to develop life and career skills in context of core academic subjects and across interdisciplinary themes, and to employ methods that integrate research-proven teaching strategies, modern learning technologies, and real world connections.
We strive to develop our curricular strategies based on current and relevant research and best practices, and maintain a level of rigor that meets the needs of our students and provides them with the tools to excel in academic excellence.
In an effort to accomplish our mission and beliefs, our district has adopted the TEKS Resource System curriculum materials as a resource to guide our instructional design.
