FCISD 8th graders attended a career fair in Plainview. They got to listen to guest speaker Gabriel Salazar, then they explored different career booths to get more insight into what jobs are out there.

Jasmine Flores Creates Special Gift in Fashion Design Class
In Mrs. Bradley’s Fashion Design class, freshman Jasmine Flores is learning the basics of sewing while creating something from the heart. Jasmine recently began working on her first sewing project—a soft, handmade beanie for her mom, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.
The project has taught Jasmine how to measure, cut, and follow a simple pattern, skills that are essential for beginning sewists. “It feels good to learn something new, but even better knowing I’m making it for my mom,” Jasmine shared.
Mrs. Bradley praised Jasmine’s dedication, noting that combining new learning with a personal project makes the experience even more meaningful. “Jasmine is not only learning the steps of sewing, but also how to put her creativity and care into a project that matters,” she said.
Jasmine’s beanie is more than just a class assignment—it’s a symbol of love and support for her mom during a challenging time.
This week students cooked retail cuts of the beef chuck that they have previously identified. They demonstrated the different dry cooking methods and moist cooking methods that are relevant for the various retail cuts of the beef chuck!! But most importantly they enjoyed eating the work they have learned!!

We would like to bring to your attention a concerning matter we have been noticing happening more often this school year. On several occasions, we have had students ask if they can borrow a loaner laptop for the school day because theirs was left in a vehicle. We would like to respectfully ask that if at all possible, students please not leave their laptops in any vehicle for an extended period of time.
Aside from us having a limited amount of loaners available, this presents a potentially dangerous situation for your property and family. The extremely high or low temperatures in a vehicle are a major risk factor for the batteries inside of laptops malfunctioning and catching fire. They can also damage other internal components of the laptop, which may result in a non-warranty repair and a fine. Laptops left in vehicles can also significantly increase the chances that your vehicle may be broken into. Thieves are well aware that school backpacks often contain technology these days.
We appreciate your attention to this!

AT&T officially ended this service on June 17, 2025.
T-Mobile stopped functioning at the end of 2024.
Verizon has fully discontinued vText, and it is no longer supported as of mid-2025.
What does this mean for you?
To continue receiving timely notifications and to ensure you continue to receive school updates, schedule changes, and important announcements - this requires a current email address on file for you in both ASCENDER and ParentProtal.
Action Needed:
