Floydada Collegiate High School and Junior High Band Christmas Concert The Band Christmas Concert is Thursday, December 18th at 6:00pm. The concert will last about an hour, and will be followed by refreshments in the cafeteria provided by the Band Boosters. 💚🌪️ FCISD P-TECH Opportunities 🌪️💚 Floydada Collegiate seniors in the Health Sciences P-TECH pathway attended the Covenant Hospital Heart Watch event where they watched a surgical procedure performed by Dr. Ott live. The patient had an open heart surgery where the damaged aortic valve was removed and replaced with a synthetic valve. Students watched every step of the procedure from the initial incision, to the opening of the chest where they saw the heart and lungs exposed, sizing and replacement of the valve, every one of the many stitches that were placed, and the closing of the chest cavity that involved wiring the sternum shut. They also were able to see the moment the heart stopped for the surgery and when it resumed beating successfully.  There were many medical professionals that spoke to our students through the live feed and at our location in the Covenant Knipling Education Center. They heard from surgeons, surgical technicians, sterile processing technicians, physician assistants, and nurses from various departments. There was a display with surgical tools that were commonly used in the live surgery and the students were able to ask questions about them. Covenant also promoted the lesser known medical positions in the field of surgery and positions in the military as well.  It was a very educational experience and they all very much enjoyed it! #whirlwindpride 💚🌪️🩺

Our junior high UIL students enjoyed healthy snacks that were provided by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. This was in conjunction with the Strong Teens, Healthy School Research Project the 6th graders are participating in this year. #whirlwindpride 💚🌪️

Good Luck to the FFA Area 1 Champion Ag Advocacy Team as they travel to their State Competition at Sam Houston State University.
