🩺 Exploring the Path to Medical School with Texas A&M! 👍 Our Healthcare Pathway students had an incredible opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to go from high school to medical school through a specialized ECHO program offered by the Texas A&M University Telehealth Institute and the Texas A&M University College of Medicine K-12 Rural Medicine Outreach Program. During the two sessions, students learned about the pathway to medical school, including required high school and college courses, GPA expectations, entrance testing, application timelines, costs, acceptance rates, and opportunities available through Texas A&M. Most importantly, they learned what they can begin doing right now to prepare for a future career in medicine. Students also explored medical school acceptance statistics across Texas and at Texas A&M, walked through the application and acceptance process, and took a virtual tour of Texas A&M’s medical campus in Bryan-College Station. They learned about the different healthcare professions and where future medical professionals train and learn. Sessions were led by Dr. Chris Diem, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for the Texas A&M University College of Medicine, who provided valuable insight, resources, and connections for students considering careers in medicine. Programs like this are especially meaningful for our students because they help create pathways for future healthcare professionals who may one day return to serve rural communities like Floydada. 💚 We are proud to provide our students with opportunities that allow them to explore their futures, make connections, and see that a career in medicine is within their reach! #whirlwindpride 💚🌪️

Coach Shores’ Science class students put their learning into action with a hands-on lab exploring elements and compounds!🧪🔬 Students used clay to model the atoms and molecules that make up elements and compounds, then used their models to compare and contrast the two. A great way to turn an abstract science concept into something students can see, build, and understand! #whirlwindpride 💚🌪️

The Lady Winds enjoyed a drink from Drink Stop on Main for having the most team members show up to summer workouts. During the period the girls had to work together to construct the tallest tower. Senior Noah Fierros was recognized at the state level as a member of the 2026 UIL All-State Journalism Team. To get this honor, he competed and placed at the invitational, district, and regional levels earning him almost 70 points. #whirlwindpride 💚🌪️

Physics in action! Assistant Principal Coach Morales stopped by the physics lab, and the students guided him through how to use a motion sensor and LabQuest device. It was great to see our students become the teachers and share what they have learned with confidence. #whirlwindpride 💚🌪️
