Last year, FCISD held a fundraiser at our basketball games vs. Olton to help students in our district who were facing medical challenges. We'd like to make this an annual tradition where we offer a fundraiser to help individuals or programs in our community. We play Olton here this Friday night and we'd like to donate all money collected at the gate to our local Fire Department. Entry into the basketball games will be $3 for adults and $1 for students. Feel free to donate more to help support our wonderful Volunteer Fire Department. Thanks for your help and support! Go Winds!

As we begin basketball season, I would like to share information about the stance our district will take regarding spectator behavior. We are also sharing new guidelines released by the Texas High School Basketball Officials Association. The UIL Sportsmanship Manual states the following: • Always support your team and the efforts of all participants involved. • Do not intimidate or ridicule a player, coach, or official before, during or after a contest. • Always praise athletes for their actions during a game. • A ticket is a privilege to observe the contest, not a license to verbally assault others or be generally obnoxious. • Learn the rules of the game so that you may understand and appreciate why certain situations take place. • Always respect the integrity and judgment of officials. They are present to regulate the flow and enforce the rules of the game. An official should never be degraded or ridiculed for a call they make. • Show respect for the opposing players, coaches, spectators, and support groups. Treat them as guests to your school. • Use only cheers that support and uplift the teams involved. • Recognize and show appreciation for an outstanding play by either team. • Refrain from the use of any controlled substance (alcohol, drugs, etc.) before, during, and after the game, on or near the site of the event. • Be a positive role model at events through your own actions and by censuring those around you whose behavior is unbecoming. If we notice a fan behaving inappropriately, we will kindly ask that fan to correct the behavior. If the person refuses or if the behavior continues, then we will remove the fan from the contest (whether our team is playing home or away). Removal from a school event may (and probably will) result in the fan being banned from school events for the remainder of the school year. I don’t think this means that a fan cannot comment with an “ooh,” “come on, ref,” or another jovial comment on occasion when an official misses a call; however, it should be done with emotional restraint and with good taste. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We always want our students, athletes, coaches, and fans to represent our community in the most positive manner. I know that together we can continue to support our kids while demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship. Dr. Gilbert Trevino - Superintendent

FCJH 8th graders took a trip to Floydada’s Beehive assisted living home to hand out Christmas presents that were made in their PBL classes. In Mrs. Cambron’s science class they made homemade lip balms and hand lotions. In Mrs. DeLaFuente’s math class they had to create the packaging for the gifts to go in, and in Mrs. Rendon’s reading class they made the homemade Christmas cards to go along with each present. 💚🌪️ #whirlwindpride

FCJH 8th graders did a Reality Check today with Heather Blount, from the ESC 17. They learned that the more you learn the more you earn. Students received a monthly salary based on their education and had to make decisions on kinds of homes, clothing, transportation, and food they could purchase. After the Reality Check they played career bingo, jinga, and pictionary. 💚🌪️ #whirlwindpride
