Floydada Collegiate ISD

On Saturday, December 14, 2019 three students travelled to Levelland, TX to compete in the High School All-Region Honor Band Auditions. All three deserve congratulations: Noah Vega was the only Freshman trombonist to audition out of the entire region; Devin Reyes was only four spots away from making the band and was one of only three freshmen percussionists in the entire region to audition; and Jacob Johnston placed 2nd on Contra Alto Clarinet, making the Honor Band and advancing to All-Area Auditions on January 11, 2020. Jacob will get to perform in one of the finest region ensembles in the state on January 24-25 under the direction of one of the most successful conductors in the country. This is truly a high honor. If you see any of these fine young gentlemen, please congratulate their hard work and great sacrifice – both were necessary to have done so well!

Duncan and JH ACE Programs are officially finished for the fall semester. The ACE Program will resume in January.

Chico the Elf visited Mrs. Munoz class and had them write their name on a dry erase boards and then each student came and told him what they wanted for Christmas! They had so much fun!

Spirit of the Winds Band On Saturday, December 7, 2019 seven Floydada middle school students traveled to Shallowater for the Middle School All-Region Band Auditions. The students all placed competitively overall, and Noe De Los Santos was selected for the All-Region Concert Band. Noe will attend the All-Region Weekend in January 2020, performing with the best musicians from the region under the baton of one of the best conductors and educators in the country. Congratulations to all the students who sacrificed their time and worked so hard to compete! Goooooo Whirlwinds!

Duncan ACE

Winter Concert, Tuesday, December 10 at 6:30 PM

BPA wants to thank everyone that bought a Poinsettia for their fundraiser.

Chico the Elf has been assigned to Duncan Elementary by Santa to monitor students’ behavior and report back to the North Pole daily. He’ll be making his rounds to each grade and many of the classrooms between now and Christmas. His first stop was in Mrs Snowden’s class. Chico was so kind and brought a project for the students to try. 6th graders are also learning about tectonic plates and how the convection current in the asthenosphere effect plate movement.
