Our district takes pride in providing a safe environment for everyone in our school community. With the recent outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) across multiple countries, we understand the anxiety and concerns this may bring. We are closely monitoring the situation and tracking information that is being provided to us by local health officials, the Texas Education Agency, and national agencies. We have no reason to believe there is an immediate threat to our community and county.
Upon return from spring break, we plan on operating as normal, unless mandated otherwise by the Texas Education Agency. Any change in these plans will be communicated to all stakeholders as soon as possible.
We’ve asked our custodial staff to disinfect and fumigate all district facilities this weekend. As has been our goal all year, we will provide the cleanest, healthiest environment for our students.
If you plan on traveling over spring break, please visit the Center for Disease Control website (https://www.cdc.gov) for information. Also, please visit the CDC and the Texas Department of Health Services (https://www.dshs.texas.gov) websites for more information on how to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus or any other virus.

Whirlwind Baseball wins their season opener against Dimmitt by a score of 10-7. Great job Whirlwinds.
Aaron Hamilton, one of the admissions counselors from West Texas A&M, gave a presentation to the Junior class. Aaron is an advocate for higher education. He discussed the benefits of West Texas A&M. He spoke on the different aspects of college life that need to be considered when choosing a college and what WTAM had to offered.

2020 CHEERLEADER/MASCOT TRYOUTS:
Just a reminder that all cheerleader/mascot candidates must turn in their applications this Friday by 4:00 pm! Candidates may still pick up an application either with Ms. Pesina or the front office at Duncan.
High School and Junior High candidates may drop off their application in Ms. Pesina’s classroom or front office at the high school. Sixth grader candidates may turn their application in to the front office at Duncan.
Parent/Candidate meeting will be held Monday February 24th in the FHS Library at 6:30 pm.
