A high school student received medical confirmation today, Tuesday, December 1, 2020, of a positive COVID-19 test. This student is now in quarantine, along with her younger elementary sibling who also tested positive. After conducting contact tracing, we discovered that most of the varsity girls basketball team was in close contact with the student at a practice held Monday, November 30, 2020. Members of the varsity girls team will be required to quarantine for 14 days, unless they missed the practice yesterday or were previously positive. Due to no school on Monday, no other students were in close contact with the positive cases, aside from those in the varsity girls practice. Close contact is defined as being exposed to infectious secretions (i.e. being coughed on) or being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes without a facial covering. Please continue to encourage your child to wear their facial covering as this will help decrease the likelihood of contracting the virus. Also, please keep your child home and monitor for COVID-19 symptoms if they are required to quarantine.

With the Varsity team still in quarantine, the JV team traveled to Sudan to take on the Hornets Varsity team. The Whirlwinds were able to sneak away with a 60-52 win over the Hornets. I am very appreciative of the hard work and effort the team put in to help us get off to a 2-0 start. The young men did not back down from the challenge and I can honestly say the future for Floydada Basketball is very bright! Go Winds!!! Coach Zepeda
