This is just a friendly reminder that facial coverings are required if you are attending a basketball game in our gyms. This is the only way to keep our kids safe and ensure we are able to play a full basketball season. If this becomes an issue, people may be asked to leave or we may have to play games without fans. Please do what’s best for our students and athletes! Thank you to those who are complying with this guideline.

A high school student received medical confirmation today, Thursday, November 12th, of a positive COVID-19 test. This student is now in quarantine. After conducting contact tracing, we discovered that the varsity boys basketball team was in close contact with the student. All members of the varsity team will be required to quarantine for 14 days. Due to social distancing and wearing of facial coverings, we are confident that no students in classrooms were in close contact with the positive case. Close contact is defined as being exposed to infectious secretions (i.e. being coughed on) or being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes without a facial covering. Please continue to encourage your child to wear their facial covering as this will help decrease the likelihood of contracting the virus.

We would like to provide public notice of positive COVID-19 cases for students in our district. We received medical confirmation of positive tests on 3 students (all in the same household) late yesterday afternoon, Monday, November 2, 2020. The students are now in quarantine. There was one student from Duncan and two from our high school campus. The campuses conducted contact tracing immediately for these cases and we do not believe the virus was contracted on campuses by these students. The students have not been on campuses since last week. The students were not considered to be in “close contact” with anyone on campus. Close contact is defined as being exposed to infectious secretions (i.e. being coughed on) or being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes without a facial covering. As we’ve done all year, all areas of each campus are disinfected each day with a Clorox Germicidal System. In addition, classrooms are disinfected each time students transition from class to class. We will continue to ask students age 10 and older to wear facial coverings. We would like to encourage those who test positive or who have to quarantine due to close contact with a positive case to please follow the quarantine guidelines recommended by the CDC. Our district is doing an amazing job of ensuring our students remain healthy and safe, but we need the help of the community, too. If you are in quarantine, please do not allow others in your home until the quarantine period ends for your household. This will help minimize the spread of the virus. Thank you!
