National School Counseling Week
Kristi Rehkopf and Nikki Smith are counselors at the High School and Junior High.
Kristi has been in the school system for 15 years with 12 years of high school counseling. She graduated from West Texas A&M. Kristi said “Growing up as a first generation student I knew firsthand how scary, confusing, and overwhelming the college/career process could be. I always knew my passion was to help people, however I wasn't sure in what capacity. After changing my degree plan several times, I finally realized my way of helping others was through school counseling. As a school counselor, not only could I help students work through social/emotional issues, I could also help them explore different college/career options, apply to college, fill out scholarships, search job opportunities and get ready for life after high school. This year wraps up my 12th year as a high school counselor and I find I love my job more and more each day.”
Nikki has been a counselor for 17 years. This is her 20th year in the school systems. She is a counselor for the secondary schools. Nikki graduated from West Texas A&M. She states “I wanted to help students know that no matter the challenges in life there are solutions to every obstacle. I sure love the students at FISD.”

Mrs. Maldonado’s Kindergarten class participated in a Super Bowl Spelling Challenge with Dr. Trevino, Mr. Morren, Mr. Morales, and Mrs. Smith. Ask your child if they can spell a consonant-vowel-consonant word such as rug, pen, mop, or bat.
Floydada BPA Results from Regional Meet held in Plainview on January 25. All contestants will advance to state held in Ft. Worth in May.
